Glaxo Smith Klein, Conference Rooms

Induction loop systems come in various types, shapes and sizes. Here is an induction loop laid under the final floor finish of carpet tiles (yet to be laid), in a 'phased array' providing 'low spill' of the loop signal to adjacent rooms. A protective warning tape is fixed over the copper tape to warn people if any tiles are lifted in the future.

This installation was in a conference room for a large pharmaceutical company, where we shall be installing similar loops in adjacent rooms, hence the need for a 'low spill' system. The flat copper tape forms two loops, laid in a figure-of-eight pattern and overlapping. Two signals, 90 degrees out of phase with each other, are sent through the loops simultaneously, providing even coverage and low spill. If a traditional perimeter loop were installed here, a hearing aid user would be able to hear the sound as easily in the adjacent room as they would in the intended room.  All systems were tested to meet the IEC 60118-4 standard.
